Sei Arimori graduated as Master of Arts at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He
combines Japanese tradition with painting techniques from the Flemish Middle-Ages and Italian
Renaissance. He adopted the old techniques of Eastern and Western masters: he works with tempera,
pigments, turpentine and glaze, a colorless coat applied onto a hand-dried coat. Also the old masters'
use of gold leaf inspires him. He paints abstract works and creates mystical almost timeless worlds. He manipulates light and shadow and plays with the reflection of gold, the symbol of life and spirituality in all cultures.
He teaches at the academy of Tokyo, had solo and group expositions in Tokyo, Fukushima, Paris, Washington and Brussels among other places..
